WHAT IS CHRYSALIS?
Chrysalis is the growth state between caterpillars and butterflies. This stage is a delicate process that eventually changes a caterpillar into a butterfly with beautifully colored wings. Outwardly it may look like nothing is happening, but inside the chrysalis, a change is taking place. This symbolizes that through dying to self, Christ can transform us into new beings that can experience the beauty and fullness of God’s love. It is necessary to experience the chrysalis stage to open ourselves to Jesus so this transformation may occur.
Chrysalis is the name chosen for the Youth Walk to Emmaus because it symbolizes faith growth in the lives of youth – the spiritual growth that is necessary between adolescence and adulthood. It is a crucial time of maturing faith for discipleship.
WHAT HAPPENS
AT CHRYSALIS?
You will spend 3 days with other young people in worship, prayer, fellowship, recreation, singing, and discussion. You will experience the love of Christ through the prayers and acts of service of a loving supportive community. You will hear talks given by youth and adults that focus on the needs of maturing youth and that offer the message of the gospel and that a friendship with Jesus can help you live your faith with family, friends, church & community.
WHAT HAPPENS
AFTER CHRYSALIS?
Following the three-day retreat, you are invited to build upon the Chrysalis weekend for the rest of your life. This can happen through involvement with a local church, participation in a small share/support group and a personal devotional life. You can continue to experience and grow in God’s love each new day.
